Dr Jessica Steinberg, PhD, LLM

Steinberg is an anthropologist by training, an academic by way of history, and a legal consultant in practice.

Professional Journey

Steinberg began her work in the regulated cannabis market in 2016, embarking on a path that led her to become Oxford's first PhD specializing in legal cannabis markets.

She traced the evolution of legal reform and commercialization across 11 jurisdictions, illuminating the intricate interplay of economic, legal, and social dynamics. As a trained anthropologist, she excels in building trusted relationships and uncovering less apparent patterns.

She also held a 3 year delegacy at the UN’s Commission on Narcotic Drugs and the WHO.

Steinberg's insights and contributions have been seen in publications such as BBC Radio 4, Benzinga, and the New York Times. She is a seasoned moderator and keynote speaker with 7 years of experience in the regulated cannabis market.

Community & Impact

In 2018, she co-founded entOURage Network, a women's empowerment platform aimed at supporting the community in Europe's regulated cannabis market.

Steinberg's drive for impact was ignited in her teenage years when she founded Giveable Giggles, a 501(c)3 charity.

Academic Qualifications

  • Steinberg graduated with a PhD in Law from the University of Oxford.

  • Steinberg graduated from University of St. Andrews with distinction, earning a joint honors degree in International Relations and Social Anthropology while garnering the Dean’s Scholarship for Academic Excellence.
